what we do
Treecraft is a full-service design-build business based in Fort Collins, Colorado. We are a small crew of designers and craftsmen who specialize in custom treehouses, cabins, playhouses, playgrounds, skate ramps, and related small scale unique structures. Our adventurous and thoughtful approach to architecture, devotion to craftsmanship, and playful spirit combine to bring to life inspired works of functional art.

Our mission is to create highly crafted, beautiful spaces that encourage play, fuel the imagination, and inspire wonder. We believe everyone is a little better off with a little more access to their inner child, and maybe a little less access to their screens. We thrive on the technical challenges of building unique structures in unique locations, and are ever driven to hone our craft and capability. We are guided by a design-build ethos, which cultivates a rich relationship between design intent and the realization of a built product.

Treehouses (and their related-in-spirit counterparts) come in many shapes and sizes, and their application is limited only by your imagination! We have designed and built everything from simple tree-forts and playhouses, to playgrounds, skate ramps, epic treehouse/playhouse wonderlands, adult retreat spaces, and livable Airbnb-style treehouses with all the amenities of home. For the larger projects which may require engineering / permitting, we offer full design services to help navigate the process for you from concept to completion. We work primarily in Colorado, and occasionally beyond. We are happy to travel for the right project!
Origin
Treecraft was founded by Aaron Smith in 2015. Aaron is an architect-turned-builder, turned design-builder, with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Architecture from the University of Virginia and the University of Colorado Denver, respectively. Before going full time into treehouse building, he has previously worked in architecture offices, timber framing crews, and in the tinyhouse design-build world. Aaron is also an ultramarathon runner, and lives in Fort Collins with his wonderful wife Cassie and three enthusiastic treehouse testers: Jake (6yo), Charlie (4yo), and Tessa (0yo).
