THE WILLOW TREEHOUSE - BOULDER, CO
This treehouse is perched in a massive willow tree that overhangs a small seasonal creek. The two girls this was built for had previously rigged a plank up in the tree as a makeshift treehouse, which attracted the occasional black bear looking for a nice place to sit! The main deck is supported by five knee-braces arrayed around the naturally sloping side of the tree. Hatches in the deck access both the main entry ladder and a drop down to a rope climb. Branch balusters collected in the woods lend a natural look to the handrail, and a weathered basket from the girls' makeshift treehouse stash is reused for a rope & pulley hoist. Hammock attachment bolts on deck make for the perfect spot to lounge and do some reading (or napping!) high up in the trees
